Jackson had his first soccer game this afternoon. This is his very first time to play organized sports. He looked like a natural and scored the only two goals for his team. We were so excited and proud. Having the star of the game helped me crack into the tight knit soccer mom crowd. :)
Jack and I spent Sunday getting the pool and patio back in order post IKE. It was a gorgeous afternoon and we had so much fun. Jack thinks swim trunks don't apply when you have your own pool.
So we leave "the coast" and the freakin hurricane still rocks our world 70 + miles inland. When the hurricane is 400 miles wide, I guess 70 miles doesn't mean crap. I say I will never do that again because I spent the night huddled on the floor in the hallway holding pillows over Jack listening to huge tree branches hit the roof waiting for it to cave in and praying to God to spare us even though I have been a total sh*t my entire life. However, God did spare us and I will be at church on Sunday (when they get power). Jeremy said had we left our ceiling in the kitchen would have caved in had we not been here to stop the leak. I think we get a waiver from the Home Owners Assoc. Nazi's for the tarp on our roof until repairs are made considering the storm. So one leaking kitchen ceiling and smashed windshield on my Expedition... We are OK. Why oh why couldn't the darn tree wipe out the Expedition? I bought the damn gap insurance and totaling it would have been awesome because the gas guzzling beast would be paid off. I love it though. Gap insurance you ask? The Hardwick family moto prevails, Buy High, Sale Low! Hah!!!
Wow! We survived Ike. No power for a week, dark empty grocery stores, no street lights... I start a job with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice on Monday. Sounds important, heh? Mira... Don't get too excited. I could be fired within the week. :) Short story long, my blog will be privatized. So if you receive an email to be able to view it, go through a couple of steps or you are sh#t out of luck. The following pictures are of the neighborhood. Love you and miss you all.
